A Little About Me…

When I was 15 I was involved in an ATV accident that left me with a severely broken leg. This accident garnered me my first ambulance ride, first Emergency Room experience, and first emergency surgery. (It also cost me my one and only pair of beloved two-tone tapered-leg Jordache jeans. I know my fellow Gen X-ers feel me!)

The trauma of this incident, however, was far from just physical. There were many deep layers of fear, anxiety, uncertainty, and interpersonal stress.

One of my most imprinted memories is being wheeled to the operating room. I didn’t understand much of what was happening nor what to expect. My mind was spinning with countless worse-case scenarios. I was terrified and in tears. The woman pushing my gurney sternly stated — “Stop crying, there’s nothing to cry about.” I still cringe inside when I recall that cold experience. The gift in her lack of empathy and compassion was lighting a fire of desire inside me to do it better.

When the time was right, I harnessed my innate gifts for caregiving and curated an impactful decades-long career in nursing. I’ve supported countless souls through some of the most terrifying and painful times in their lives. As well as celebrated their recoveries and triumphs. It has been a privilege and an honor.

As an anesthesia provider for over two decades, I have first-hand insight into the opportunities that exist to go beyond the physical and optimize one’s experience when facing surgery. Combining my expertise and training with my values for stewardship, discovery, and connection I am eager to bridge the gaps between what “is" and what “can be” as it relates to modern medicine and holistic perspectives on health.

I’m proud of how I’ve used my capacity for empathy, compassion, and healing to be an agent of positive influence in the lives of my patients, clients, and the spheres of my world.
